Kids ministry now is here to discuss current kids ministry trends. This could be curriculum, problems, head aches, personal issues, ideas, events and more. It will be a place to hopefully answer questions, and help everyone who reads understand that they are not alone in ministry and that God is in control.
So before we jump into life in kids ministry now I want to give you a quick background into who I am and how we got here. I am the a kids pastor and like you reading this are involved in kids ministry in some form or fashion. Maybe you just stumbled onto this by accident, but either way kids ministry is my passion and this is what I will be writing about. I have been involved in kids ministry full time for 10 years. I am just a guy who God is using to partner with parents to raise spiritual champions. I am married to Leslie, in the picture below, and we have four beautiful daughters. She is an amazing woman, wife, and mother and I am truly blessed to call her mine. She is the biggest supporter and encourage and we all need this if we are going to survive and thrive in ministry.
I am currently the Kids Pastor at FBC Opelika in Opelika, Alabama. I have been here for 9 months and some would say it was a crazy time to transition churches and I would say YOU ARE RIGHT! It has been an amazing journey none the less, and we are super grateful to be at a church that values and loves Kids ministry. Before coming to Opelika, I was the lead kids pastor at a church in New Mexico. You read that right, New Mexico to Alabama, but what can we say other than God moves. I will talk more about this later, but for now that is who I am and what God is doing.
Things at FBCO have not been “normal” since the day we arrived, but it has been amazing. God is always moving and working and we are thankful to be apart of His plan.
So if you are reading this and need some encouragement I will leave you with this. The word of God tells us “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” Philippians 4:6 – so I want to encourage you with this, what ever you are doing in life or ministry PRAY. God is in control and has a great plan. So keep your head up and keep pressing into Him.
